No more of connecting your phone to those plug points. To charge your phone all you need is a cycle. The world’s leading phone manufacturer Nokia is planning to launch four new cheap phone models and a battery charger that gets powered by the energy generated from riding a bicycle.
This environmently friendly charger can be fitted into any Nokia phone with a 2 mm charger jack. How does the mobile get charged? Well these chargers use a dynamo to generate electricity from the movement of the wheels. Since the Bicycles are the most common mode of transport in many markets around the world, this is one additional benefit gained from an activity people are already doing. This environment friendly technology is also available cheaply too.
The charger comes along with a holder for securing the phone to the bicycle, and the price will vary according to market. Countries like Kenya, where the product was introduced, it is around15 euros ($18.43).So how does the product work? To begin charging your mobile, a cyclist will need to travel around four miles per hour( six kilometres per hour ) and the charging time will vary depending on battery model. A 10 minute journey at 10 kmh will produce around 28 minutes of talk time or 37 hours of standby time.
Logically the faster you ride your cycle, the more battery life you are going to generate. The charger will be available through selected retailers and the company’s online store before year-end. Nokia has decided to launch the four new phones in Kenya, an emerging market and also contain features designed for the needs of people in countries where access to electricity is limited, such as a six-week battery standby time.

There is an urgent need to save the entire world from serious environmental catastrophes. Issues regarding the environment must be considered more seriously by the politicians as well as the administrators of the various environment related organizations. Look at the mass destruction that happened due to the BP Oil Spill at the Gulf of Mexico. There was enormous damage that was done to the ocean and it’s creatures. It was really agonizing to see all those beautiful creatures covered with oil and the other residues from the explosion. Organizations that actively works for saving the environment did a great job in putting things back on track for these creatures. However the damage to the ocean is humongous and it will certainly take a long time to clean up this mess.
Similarly the failure of the International Whaling Commission to tackle the problem of rampant commercial whaling by Japan, Iceland and Norway is cause for concern. There is an urgent need for a complete ban on all kinds of whaling as these countries continue commercial whaling under the pretext of International Whaling Commission’s scientific whaling clause.
Japan alone has contributed to 8,201 minke whale hunts, exposing huge gaps in International Whaling Commission (IWC) rules. The objection to a complete ban on the ground that primitive communities in these countries have cultural rights is hypocrisy. It is the responsibility of these governments to help such communities to shift to other meaningful occupations.

Today when we think of buying a printer, the advantage is that it comes along with a truckload of other features. We can’t call a printer “PRINTER” these days. The same goes for a scanner too. Today technology allows you to combine both the scanner and printer. Today we call it a Multifunction printer.
HP, Canon, Epson….so many companies to choose from. So many models with interesting designs and strings of features clubbed to it. However I have always had a special attachment towards HP printers. Well, this is a personal opinion, so I have no intentions to hurt anybody with my view. Anyways I’m not gonna brag about HP the company but wanna inform you about their latest printer. The all new HP Laserjet Pro M1213nf multifunction printer (MFP) was unveiled by HP India recently.
According to the company reports, the MFP features HP Auto-on/Auto-off and HP Smart Install technologies. The HP LASERJET PRO M1213nf multifunction printer is specifically designed to simplify mundane office tasks like print, copy, scan and fax from one compact machine with Ethernet connectivity and energy saving features.
The company claims that its Auto-On/Auto-Off technology makes the device very cost effective and helps save a lot of energy without making any sacrifice on the speed. The printer is ideal for office and business users and for those who require an affordable, full-featured device to meet their multiple requirements at work. HP Laserjet Pro M1213nf is priced at Rs 16,499. HMMMM….waiting to buy one…!!!

For many months all mobile fanatics were playing the guessing games as to when the world’s largest mobile manufacturer, Nokia will be making an entry into the Dual SIM handset segment . Now with the launch of its C2 and C1 models, they have confirmed their entry in style.
There are questions to be answered when it comes to Nokia trying to prove a point in the Dual SIM market. So what is Nokia proving by releasing two mobiles at one time rather than having two separate launches? So what is the key difference in the Nokia C1 and Nokia C2.
The Nokia C1 is a basic model that features a battery with a standby time of 6 weeks, and also comes with standard flashlight, colour screen and FM Radio. Changing between SIMs by the users can be done using a single key. This handset will be available in the market by the third quarter of 2010 at a price, a little over Rs 2090. This seems to be competitive, doesn’t it?
On the other hand the Nokia C2 is slightly larger than the Nokia C1. This mobile features two active SIMs at the same time. What I mean by active SIMS is that the second SIM is `hot swappable’. This means that the second SIM can be inserted and removed at any time when the phone is turned on.
The phone is also provided with a microSD slot that accepts up to 32GB memory cards. PHEW…that’s quite a lot!!! Apart from this both the Nokia C1 and C2 has a VGA camera, 3G access, and Bluetooth connectivity. Nokia C2 comes at a price tag higher than the c1, priced at Rs 2500 approximately and will be available by the end of 2010.

The koreans seem to be dominating in this segment by launching mobiles with high end applicatiojn at a very affordable price. The new entrant to this market are Zen Mobiles.
Zen Mobile is a domestic low-cost mobile phone brand has launched a features-rich model X390. Guess what could be the price of this handy set. Guess….. still guessing??? Well believe it or not, apparently the mobile is available in the market at a price of Rs 1, 649. The all new X390 handset comes with a camera, FM recorder, wireless FM, MP3/MP4 player with stereo sound, TFT screen etc. Now this mobile also supports watching movies and videos on the go. Sometimes I wonder what’s going on with these cell phone makers. At the recent Nokia Connections event that was held in Singapore, Nokia has announced square form factor based new X5 smartphone. The Nokia X5 ‘Comes With Music’ is a slider handset.Sometime in the month of April, Nokia had announced this TCDMA based Nokia X5 just for the Chinese markets. Now it seems like the world’s largest manufacturer is trying to confuse people with two similar model name bearing handsets. However, the China specific version of X5 launched earlier is not intended for the rest of the world. The all new Nokia X5 ‘Comes With Music’ slider phone is a crossover between the smart-phone and XpressMusic handset.
This Nokia X5 has a slide-to-open panel that reveals QWERTY keyboard accompanied by a number of ‘cool’ sounding features. With looks like that of any other smartphone like Nokia E63 or E5, Nokia X5 operates on the Symbian S60v3 Feature Pack 2. In the closed mode, this phone has looks similar to the Motorola FlipOut and Microsoft KIN One.
Nokia has decided to add a dedicated music button on the phone just like how Sony Ericsson did for all its Walkman series of phones. Just like ‘Shake to Shuffle’ feature in Apple phones, this X5 comes with ‘Surprise Me’ feature wherein, while music is being played and the phone is spun, it will select and play a random track automatically. When the music is not playing, you can shake the phone and this gadget will provide you with the number of new SMSes in your Inbox. This phone also provides great access to social networking services too. Looking at all these features, this looks like one hot gadget on the prowl.
